Diet and Diabetes

I recently learned that my sugar was shooting through the roof so I decided to do some  additional  drastic changes in my lifestyle. This time it has something to do with my diet. After my labs showed my real inclination towards diabetes, I consulted J. the dietician in my hospital. First thing first, he advised me to  purchase a glucometer and he  taught me how to use it. Next I measured my sugar at least 4 times a day. I found out that indeed my fasting sugar was high every morning. I  analyzed my diet and activities and found that despite my nearly daily exercises,  I was pretty bad with my diet. Having been used to eating rice for breakfast lunch and dinner, I’ve turned for worse through the years. The culprit is my rationalizing that my running and exercise will eradicate all the baggage I carry resulting from over-eating. My mistake. I soon ended eating all the left-over rice in the house before going to sleep. When J mentioned that a diabetic may need only 9 servings of rice per day (assuming he doesn’t any other source of carb somewhere else), I thought I was on the safe side until he clarified that one serving is equivalent to 1/3 of a cup. To really measure that, it meant almost like 4 spoons. Converting that measurement with the amount of rice I eat per day, I would say, in a very alarming tone,  that my daily consumption of rice would probably run in hundreds of servings. Enough to destroy my insulin production. Learning all these, a drastic change is in the offing.

I'm back

Lord have mercy! There is an incessant desire to hack my other site which only proves someone is intending to get me off the internet world. Still, life goes on.
